Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange Market Open

September 26, 2017

Women executives and entrepreneurs led by Corporate Women Directors International (CWDI) President Irene Natividad and former Vice President of Vietnam Truong My Hoa opened the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HOSE) today to salute the significant contributions Vietnamese women have made to the growth of their economy. “It’s important that women are seen as part of business traditions such as the ringing of the opening bell at the stock exchange,” states CWDI Chair Natividad. “Vietnamese women, whether they are CEOs, board directors, executives, or entrepreneurs of businesses large or small, have been drivers of tremendous growth in the Vietnamese economy over the past 30 years.”

 

Tokyo Stock Exchange Market Open

May 10, 2017

Forty women board directors and executives led by Corporate Women Directors International (CWDI) President Irene Natividad opened the stock market of Tokyo Stock Exchange, a subsidiary of Japan Exchange Group (JPX), on May 10, 2017 to salute Japan’s hosting of the 2017 Global Summit of Women. JPX CEO Akira Kiyota welcomed the women participating in ringing the opening bell and stated “ It is a great honor for JPX to be able to welcome this group of world-class leaders working towards the advancement of women around the globe. I can once again firmly assert that we must create a society where women can shine.”

 


2016

Mexican Stock Exchange Market Open

September 30, 2016

Over 140 women board directors and executives led by Corporate Women Directors International (CWDI) President Irene Natividad opened the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) on September 30, 2016 to salute the contributions Mexican women have made to the country’s economy. Brought together by CWDI, the historic event marked the first time an all-women bell-ringing ceremony took place at the Mexican Bolsa.

“Mexican women, whether they are CEOs, board directors, executives, or entrepreneurs of businesses large or small, play a major role in the country’s economy,” states Natividad. “We are pleased to bring them together to salute their achievements.”

Warsaw Stock Exchange Market Open

Philippine Stock Exchange Market Open

September 15, 2015

CWDI Chair Irene Natividad was joined by Undersecretary of Trade and Industry Nora K. Terrado, PSE CEO Hans B. Sicat, Former Secretary of Foreign Affairs Delia Domingo-Albert, and 40 women Board Directors, CEOs and executives for the first-ever all-women Market Open at the Philippine Stock Exchange.

 

 

 


2014

ASX (Sydney) Market Open

September 10, 2014

Over 50 women board directors and executives, including Australia’s Sex Discrimination Commissioner Elizabeth Broderick, joined CWDI Chair Irene Natividad in opening the Australian Securities Exchange on September 10th. The event saluted the achievements of women business leaders in Australia as well as the efforts by the ASX to increase the number of women board directors in the country.

 

 

Euronext (Paris) Market Open

June 4, 2014

Women board directors and executives, many from leading CAC40 companies, joined Minister of Women, Cities, Youth, and Sports Najat Vallaud-Belkacem and Senator Joelle Garriaud-Maylam in opening the Euronext Stock Exchange in Paris on June 4. The Market Open kicked off the annual Global Summit of Women, hosted by France for the first time and opening June 5th with over 1,200 women business and government leaders from 82 countries in Paris.

 


2013

Six Swiss (Zurich) Market Open

March 12, 2013

CWDI Chair Irene Natividad rings the bell with 75 women business leaders in Switzerland to mark Women’s History Month and the significant contributions of women business leaders in the Swiss economy. This Market Open marks the 10th major stock exchange opened by CWDI.

 

 

 

Bursa Malaysia – Kuala Lumpur Market Open

June 5, 2013

CWDI Chair Irene Natividad rings the bell to open the Bursa Malaysia Stock Exchange as a kick-off to the 2013 Global Summit of Women.  Joining her are the wife of the Prime Minister of Malaysia Datin Rosmah Mansor, Bursa Malaysia Chairman Amat Berbahagia Tun Mohamed Dzaiddin Haji Abdullah,  and delegates to the Global Summit of Women 2013.

 

Deutsche Börse (Frankfurt) Market Open

September 30, 2013

Fifty women board directors and executives opened the Deutsche Börse today to salute German women’s contributions to the country’s economy as well as the country’s commitment to increasing women’s access to corporate leadership.

Barcelona Market Open

February 10, 2012

In Barcelona, Irene Natividad was joined by over fifty women to open the Bolsas on February 10th, 2012. The opening received much acclaim in Spain, and continued the tradition of successful and historic market openings for CWDI.

 

 

 

Warsaw Market Open

September 25, 2012

Over 100 women board directors and executives opened the Warsaw Stock Exchange for the first time as a group on September 25th, 2012. The largest stock exchange in eastern Europe, the Warsaw Stock Exchange has 50% of its management board headed by women!

 

 

 

Sao Paolo Market Open

October 18, 2012

Nearly 100 women board directors and executives opened the Sao Paolo Stock Exchange for the first time as a group, marking the important role women play in Brazil’s economy. These women, including Luiza Trajano, CEO of Magazine Luiza, and Regina Nunes, CEO of Standard and Poor’s Brazil, are the first to open the Sao Paolo Stock Exchange and the first in the entire Latin American region.

 

 

Hong Kong Market Open

November 7, 2012

In a historic first, women board directors, executives and senior government officials opened the Hong Kong Stock Exchange today to celebrate women’s business leadership in Hong Kong and to mark the HKEx’s proposal to require listed companies to include and to disclose their board diversity policy in their annual reports.

Istanbul Market Open

May 4, 2011

CWDI opened the market in Istanbul on May 4th, 2011. Joining Irene Natividad in this historic moment were H.E. Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah binti Mansor, first lady of Malaysia and chair of the 2013 Global Summit of Women, and many Summit International Planning Committee members. It is the only market open to take place around the annual Summit.

Closing the NASDAQ Market

September 29, 2006

On September 29th, 2006, Irene Natividad, chair of Corporate Women Directors International (CWDI), and other premier businesswomen, opened the NASDAQ. Around fifty men and women attended the open.It was the first market open for CWDI and launched a successful and historic succession of market opens.
