Tokyo Stock Exchange Market Open

Forty women board directors and executives led by Corporate Women Directors International (CWDI) President Irene Natividad opened the stock market of Tokyo Stock Exchange, a subsidiary of Japan Exchange Group (JPX), on May 10, 2017 to salute Japan’s hosting of the 2017 Global Summit of Women. JPX CEO Akira Kiyota welcomed the women participating in ringing the opening bell and stated “ It is a great honor for JPX to be able to welcome this group of world-class leaders working towards the advancement of women around the globe. I can once again firmly assert that we must create a society where women can shine.”

Mexican Stock Exchange Market Open

Over 140 women board directors and executives led by Corporate Women Directors International (CWDI) President Irene Natividad opened the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) on September 30, 2016 to salute the contributions Mexican women have made to the country’s economy. Brought together by CWDI, the historic event marked the first time an all-women bell-ringing ceremony took place at the Mexican Bolsa.
“Mexican women, whether they are CEOs, board directors, executives, or entrepreneurs of businesses large or small, play a major role in the country’s economy,” states Natividad. “We are pleased to bring them together to salute their achievements.”

ASX (Sydney) Market Open

Over 50 women board directors and executives, including Australia’s Sex Discrimination Commissioner Elizabeth Broderick, joined CWDI Chair Irene Natividad in opening the Australian Securities Exchange on September 10th. The event saluted the achievements of women business leaders in Australia as well as the efforts by the ASX to increase the number of women board directors in the country.
Euronext (Paris) Market Open

Women board directors and executives, many from leading CAC40 companies, joined Minister of Women, Cities, Youth, and Sports Najat Vallaud-Belkacem and Senator Joelle Garriaud-Maylam in opening the Euronext Stock Exchange in Paris on June 4. The Market Open kicked off the annual Global Summit of Women, hosted by France for the first time and opening June 5th with over 1,200 women business and government leaders from 82 countries in Paris.

Nearly 100 women board directors and executives opened the Sao Paolo Stock Exchange for the first time as a group, marking the important role women play in Brazil’s economy. These women, including Luiza Trajano, CEO of Magazine Luiza, and Regina Nunes, CEO of Standard and Poor’s Brazil, are the first to open the Sao Paolo Stock Exchange and the first in the entire Latin American region.

In a historic first, women board directors, executives and senior government officials opened the Hong Kong Stock Exchange today to celebrate women’s business leadership in Hong Kong and to mark the HKEx’s proposal to require listed companies to include and to disclose their board diversity policy in their annual reports.
