Mexican Stock Exchange Market Open
September 30, 2016
Over 140 women board directors and executives led by Corporate Women Directors International (CWDI) President Irene Natividad opened the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) on September 30, 2016 to salute the contributions Mexican women have made to the country’s economy. Brought together by CWDI, the historic event marked the first time an all-women bell-ringing ceremony took place at the Mexican Bolsa.
“Mexican women, whether they are CEOs, board directors, executives, or entrepreneurs of businesses large or small, play a major role in the country’s economy,” states Natividad. “We are pleased to bring them together to salute their achievements.”
To showcase some of this talent, Market Open was followed by a Forum on Women on Boards which included Mexican and U.S. women directors — Louise Goeser, CEO of Siemens Mesoamerica and Board Director, Seguros Monterrey New York Life; Patricia Gonzalez, Global Board Director of PricewaterhouseCoopers; Blanca Trevino, CEO of Softtek and Walmex Board Director; Paula Santilli, General Manager for Savory Products, PepsiCo Mexico; and Cari Dominguez, Board Director of Manpower and Former Chair of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunities Commission. All shared their board and executive experiences, while emphasizing the need for more women to be appointed to board seats.
