BIOGRAPHY

RTVE is Spain’s largest state-owned public media company. It is made up of TVE, with seven television channels; RNE, with six radio stations; the RTVE.es website, the RTVE Institute and the RTVE Orchestra and Choir. As RTVE’s Director of Communication and Participation, Maria Eizaguirre has enhanced La Gran Consulta: one of the most successful surveys with the highest rates of participation across Europe.
María Eizaguirre Comendador, also known as “MEC”, is the promoter of Benidorm Fest, a tv show concieved to choose Spain’s representative for the Eurovision Song Contest.

She holds a degree in Audiovisual Communication from the University of Navarra, a PhD in Journalism from the Complutense University and a Master’s in Education and New Technologies from the UNED. She has completed her training in different programmes at Harvard, UCLA (Women 50 International Programme) and Silicon Valley, among others. She has directed the second edition of the “Telediario” (the most important Tv news) for six years (2012-2018). She holds a Golden Award Tv Academy (2022), Golden Award for her job in the radio magazine “Protagonistas” (2005), the FEDEPE Award for Professional Women’s Leadership (2018) and Talent has no Gender Award from the Asociación Española de Consejer@s y Ejecutiv@s (2018).
