BIOGRAPHY

Denise R. Rutherford, Ph.D. is a globally recognized business leader, scientist, and advocate for innovation and inclusion, with over three decades of experience driving growth and transformation in international markets. Currently serving as Chief Technology and Innovation Officer at Velcro Companies, she leads global R&D and sustainability initiatives, accelerating product advancements across healthcare, consumer, and industrial sectors. Denise began her career as a senior research chemist before rising through the ranks at 3M, where she held multiple executive roles including Chief Corporate Affairs Officer and Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs. In this capacity, she led global communications, government affairs, and sustainability strategies, even representing 3M in a congressional hearing on PFAS materials. Denise was the first woman to serve as President of 3M Greater China and of 3M Japan, holding additional senior leadership positions across Latin America and Europe. A distinguished thought leader and inventor, Denise holds 14 U.S. patents and is board certified in corporate governance.
