THE CHANGING FACE OF THE U.S. WORKFORCE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-28323 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/globewomen.org\/globalsummit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/ENEWS4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"568\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/globewomen.org\/globalsummit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/ENEWS4.jpg 571w, https:\/\/globewomen.org\/globalsummit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/ENEWS4-300x119.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 568px) 100vw, 568px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Changing demographics in the U.S. are re-shaping the workforce and women are leading the way.\u00a0 For the first time, <strong><em>most new hires of prime working age (25 to 54) are people of color,<\/em><\/strong> according to a <em>Washington Post<\/em> analysis of Labor Department data. Women are predominantly driving this trend, which is so powerful that even many women who weren&#8217;t considering working \u2014 because they were in school, caring for kids or at home for other reasons \u2014 are being lured into employment, according to the<em> Post\u2019s<\/em> analysis.<\/p>\n<p>These increases began to pour into the labor market in 2015 with an increase in the retirement of many white baby boomers.\u00a0 Of the 5.2 million more jobs in the U.S. at the end of 2016, 4.5 million of them are held by minorities.\u00a0 However, these new hires are the most vulnerable to economic downturns or displacement by artificial intelligence and new technologies, and often face negative stereotypes regarding their capabilities.\u00a0 The challenge is for continued economic expansion enabling more of these new hires to achieve job stability. (<em>Washington Post<\/em>, Sept 9. 2019)<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>IV. EFFECT OF WOMEN IN CORPORATE LEADERSHIP ON COMPANY PERFORMANCE REAFFIRMED<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-28324 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/globewomen.org\/globalsummit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/ENEWS5.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"106\" height=\"149\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A new report by the Credit Suisse Research Institute released this week reaffirms previous findings \u2013 <strong><em>a material correlation exists between companies with a higher participation of women in decision-making roles and the company\u2019s stock market and corporate performance<\/em><\/strong>. The third edition of the CS Gender 3000 Report \u201cThe Changing Face of Companies,\u201d which examined over 3,000 companies in 56 countries, found that companies with more diverse management teams have generated outperformance of 4% annually compared to those with below average levels of diversity.<\/p>\n<p>Since Credit Suisse\u2019s last report in 2016, the percentage of women board directors has increased from 15.3% to 20.6%.\u00a0 Similar to research by the Corporate Women Directors International (<strong><em>2018 CWDI Report on Women Board Directors of Fortune Global 200 Companies<\/em><\/strong>) ), the report found that the countries with the highest percentages of women directors and those with the biggest increases in percentages over the past decade were those with quotas or targets for women on board, such as Norway, France, and Italy.<\/p>\n<p>The report also includes an assessment of the dynamics of the female labor market and the frictions at work that may impact career progression.
