Prayut Chan-o-cha is a retired Royal Thai Army General serving as Prime Minister of Thailand since 2014 and Minister of Defense since 2019. He served as Chief of the Thai army from 2010 to 2014 and was the leader of the National Council for Peace and Order, the military junta which governed Thailand from May 2014 to July 2019. He began his military career in 1990 as a Battalion Commander before serving as Commanding General, Chief of Staff for the Royal Thai Army, and Deputy Commander in Chief, before becoming Commander in Chief in 2010.\u00a0 His foreign decorations include the Legion of Merit from the United States in 2013 as well as decorations from Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia.<\/h4>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>H.E.
